Dorene has a special affinity for narrative art. Her paintings attempt to portray the charm and humor that can be observed in ordinary life—a baker, three old friends, a wedding party. The inspiration for her art has come from playful photos in dusty family albums and from simple moments captured while being out-and-about.
The intent of Dorene’s work is to connect personally and emotionally with the viewer. The collages that she initially created portray individuals with featureless faces that invite the onlooker into similar settings that they may have shared with their own relatives and friends.
Her body of work incorporates a variety of mediums---gouache, acrylics, oils, collage—and a number of genres---including portraits of much-loved pets! More recently, she has been exploring the world of abstract art.
Dorene lives and makes art in the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts. Her paintings have been exhibited in solo and group shows in galleries and museums.
